More than one personal computer can access the Internet simultaneously by connecting
a router such as a broadband router between personal computers and the
cable modem.
Benefit

A certain level of security can be maintained by capabilities such as filtering
(firewall) of broadband router.

Although usually only one PC can be connected to a cable modem, more than one
PCs can be simultaneously connected to the Internet via a broadband
router.
Disadvantage

Some network games and other applications may be unable to use.

games or applications.
Required Devices
LAN Adapter
Most personal computers available sold today in shops such as appliance stores
are attached with a LAN adapter as default.
(When you use a personal computer without a LAN adapter, you must purchase a
LAN adapter separately and install it.).
Broadband Router
You need a broadband router supporting CATV.
Connection Instructions

LAN Cable (Straight Type) Connection
Connect the cable modem and the "WAN port" of the broadband router with a straight type LAN cable. Then connect "LAN port" of the broadband router and the personal computer with a straight type LAN cable
as well.
2.
Setup of a Broadband Router
Set up the broadband router from the personal computer.
For the WAN side select to acquire IP automatically (DHCP).

Verify the Connection
Please verify that you can access the Internet by viewing home pages or receiving
e-mails from the PC.
